SECTION 15. REQUIREMENTS FOR GRADUATION FROM THE COLLEGE OF HUMANITIES
Every prospective graduate from the College of Humanities, is required to consult with his/her departmental adviser at least once during his/her junior year, once during the first or second quarter of his/her senior year, and additional times at the discretion of his/her major department.
To qualify for graduation from the college a candidate for the Bachelor of Arts or the Bachelor of Science degree must complete, with a cumulative grade-point average of 2.0 or higher, at least 183 credit hours of work approved by the dean and the faculty of the college, including:
The Liberal Education requirements of the university or the equivalent, such as advanced placement hours through CLEP, etc.
The stipulated minimum of credit hours in a major within the college, usually 42-45.
A minimum of 60 credit hours numbered 300 or above.
A maximum of 60 credit hours in a major subject, except as follows: if a student shows good cause and secures the recommendation of a department chairperson and approval of the dean, the 60 credit limit may be exceeded.
A minimum of 65 allied hours (not to include Liberal Education) in three or more departments in the university outside the student's major area, subject to the following provisions:
The allied hours are to be selected in consultation with the department chairperson or adviser and approved as supportive of the student's program.
Candidates for a B.A. degree may count the required language hours (25) as allied work.
Language and Communication majors may take 20 hours of their allied work within the department of their major provided that the extra 20 are in another language or another division of communication than that of their defined major.
Minimal requirements of the Graduate School of Education for a Secondary School Certificate shall be the maximum hours in education counted as allied work.
No more than 10 hours in applied courses, such as applied organizations in music, activity courses in physical education, or theatre performance may be included as allied hours.
Candidates for the Bachelor of Arts degree must have completed in high school or college the equivalent of 25 credit hours of a foreign language.
