Information & Submission Instructions

THE JOHN R. PARK TEACHING FELLOWSHIP is awarded to faculty who will undertake one semester of study at a site outside the state of Utah in order to enhance and enrich the teaching art. Tenured, tenure-track, and auxiliary faculty are eligible to apply. Preference will be given to applicants whose primary affiliation is as faculty at the University of Utah. Up to two fellows will be selected by the University Teaching Committee, subject to the approval of the Board of Trustees.

Each award is for $5,000 with the possibility of $5,000 going to the teacher’s department to help defray department costs for release time.

An application consists of the following items submitted electronically in one document:

  • Summary (150 word limit)

  • Narrative (1,000 word limit) describing objectives, how the leave will enhance teaching effectiveness, and the reasons for selecting the site of study.

  • Current curriculum vitae

  • Letter of support from the Department Chair


Instructions


1. Download and complete the fellowship application, which is in Microsoft Word format.

The form contains instructions for its completion. We request that the letter of support from the chair be included in the application. We prefer a letter created on electronic stationary and signed with a graphic facsimile. Digital signatures can be affixed in section B during conversion with Adobe Acrobat if that software is available to you. However, the letter can also be unsigned or scanned from a signed paper version and inserted.


2. Convert your completed application into an Adobe PDF file.

If you do not have the software to make this conversion, you may submit your application as a Word document, but please save it as “.doc” and not in the new “.docx” format.


3. Use the link below to submit Summary information.

You may copy and paste from your Word document to fill out this form. After you are done, return to this page to upload your application.


4. Upload your completed application by January 9, 2008.
